Find Your Exact Phone Model (So You Pick the Right Case)

Shamo's fit guide · Updated October 2026

Start with the full model name

Before you choose a case, find your phone's exact model in Settings. Copy every part of the name, then match it to the model option on the case product page.

Similar screen sizes, camera layouts or names do not prove that two phones use the same case. A few extra letters, such as Pro Max, Ultra or XL, can change which option you need.

01 · iPhone

Read Model Name in About

Settings → General → About → Model Name

Four illustrated iPhone steps: open Settings, choose General, open About, and read the highlighted Model Name row showing iPhone 18 Pro.
Illustrated screens. Labels and layout can vary with the software version. The written steps below remain available at any screen size.
  1. Open Settings. Look for the gear icon on your iPhone.
  2. Tap General, then About. This is where Apple lists the device's model information.
  3. Read Model Name. Copy the complete value, for example, “iPhone 18 Pro” or “iPhone 18 Pro Max.”
  4. Keep the whole name. The generation and any Pro, Pro Max, Plus or mini wording belong in your case selection.

Name and Model Name are different

Name can be a nickname such as “My iPhone,” and it can be changed. Model Name identifies the phone model. Use that field when shopping for a case.

Need a model number instead?

On the same About screen, the value beside Model Number initially shows a part number. Tap it to reveal the model number beginning with A. Use that number in Apple's iPhone identification guide to confirm the full model name.

Official steps: Apple's About-screen guide and model-number instructions. Apple also explains the editable Name field.

02 · Samsung Galaxy

Open About phone

Settings → About phone

  1. Open Settings. Scroll to About phone; older software may use different wording.
  2. Read the product or model name. Look for the full Galaxy name. The screen may label the human-readable name “Product name” or “Model name.”
  3. Keep the model code too. A code beginning “SM-” may appear as Model name or Model number. Use it if the exact Galaxy version is unclear.

Keep +, Plus, Ultra, FE, Edge and any 4G/5G distinction when present. For a Galaxy Z phone, include Flip or Fold and its generation. An editable device nickname is not a reliable model check.

Example layout only. Menu labels depend on model, region and software. See Samsung's instructions.

03 · Google Pixel

Find the Model field

Settings → About phone → Model

  1. Open Settings. Tap About phone.
  2. Scroll to Model. Read the model entry; tap it if your software opens a separate model-information panel.
  3. Copy the complete name. Keep any Pro, XL, Fold or “a” designation.

Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL are different selections. Copy the Model entry rather than relying on a nickname at the top of the screen.

04 · Choose the matching case

Match the name all the way to your cart

An identification example, not a promise that every design is available for this model.

  1. Browse the relevant collection. Start with your phone brand or generation, then open a case design you like.
  2. Use that product's model selector. A collection title and a product photo help you browse; neither replaces the model option. Select the full name you found in Settings.
  3. Check every distinguishing word. Pro and Pro Max, Plus and Ultra, or Pixel Pro and Pro XL are not interchangeable labels. For an iPhone SE, confirm its generation using the model number.
  4. Choose the remaining options. Select your preferred Surface or Finish if shown. Check magnetic attachment and wireless-charging details separately from fit.
  5. Review the cart line. Confirm the case design, complete phone model, finish and quantity before checkout.

If your exact model is missing, stop there

Don't order a neighboring model or guess what an unfamiliar label means. Contact Shamo's with the model name and a link to the case you want. Availability can differ by design.

The Pixel link is specifically for the Pixel 9 series. Always confirm the exact model on the individual product page.

If the phone is locked, damaged or a gift

Use a second reliable record

Original box

Check the printed model name or model number. Make sure the box belongs to this phone, especially if it was bought used or replaced.

Order or device record

Check the original receipt, retailer order or carrier device details for the full model. Google also lists models for many devices on its Your Devices page.

Ask the owner

For a gift, ask them to copy the Model Name or Model field. It is more dependable than guessing from a photo or an old case.

For iPhone, use the model number with Apple's identification guide. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for where that number appears on your particular device. If the records disagree, confirm with the manufacturer or retailer before ordering.

Share only what is needed

For case-fit help, send the model name or model number and the product link. Do not send your IMEI, serial number, passcode or account details. If you send a screenshot, crop it to the model information and hide the rest.

Quick answers

Can I identify my phone from its cameras or screen size?

Use those only as clues. Several generations and variants can look alike. Confirm the model name or model number before choosing a case.

Does “Pro Max” really matter?

Yes. Include the complete suffix. For example, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are separate model choices. Do not substitute one for the other.

Does storage capacity or color choose the case size?

Use the exact model first. Storage capacity and phone color do not replace the model name. Follow any additional compatibility instructions on the case product page.

Will a case from a previous generation fit?

Do not assume it will. Body dimensions, camera openings and controls can change. Choose your exact model unless that specific product explicitly lists both phones as compatible.

I only know an A-number or an SM-code. What now?

Use the manufacturer's model information to identify the full name, or ask us to check it with the link to the case you want. You do not need to provide a unique device identifier.
